A fire has broken out at a construction site at the World Trade Center South Tower, with black smoke visible from the area. The exact location of the ignition and the cause of the fire are not yet known.
According to residents of the nearby World Tower Residence, smoke also entered parts of the residential building. An announcement inside the building instructed residents to prepare for a possible evacuation at any time.
