Takaichi Sanae has become Japan’s next prime minister, making her the country’s first female leader following the Diet election. She secured majorities in both the Upper and Lower houses, with key support from the LDP’s new coalition partner, the Japan Innovation Party, as well as other lawmakers.
Takaichi entered politics in 1993, joined the Liberal Democratic Party in 1996, and entered the Cabinet in 2006 under former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo. She is widely viewed as Abe’s political successor, with a focus on regional stability in Indo-Pacific policy priorities similar to his vision.

高市氏は1993年に政界入りし、1996年に自民党へ参加、2006年には安倍晋三元首相の下で初入閣した。安倍氏の政策を受け継ぐ存在と広くみなされており、インド太平洋政策における地域の安定を重視する置く姿勢は、安倍氏の構想と通じるものがある。
