Honda and Nissan issued bleak profit forecasts, factoring in the expected multi-billion-dollar impact of U.S. car tariffs. Both automakers operate factories in the United States as well as in Mexico. Nissan, which had been struggling even before the tariff announcement, is undergoing a major restructuring and plans to cut 20,000 jobs—15% of its global workforce—and shut down seven of its 17 plants.
