India Unveils $576 Billion Budget, Boosts Job Creation and Rural Spending

India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled a $576 billion budget for the current fiscal year, the first since the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party lost its parliamentary majority. The budget includes $24 billion for job-creating measures over the next five years. Additionally, the government will allocate $32 billion for rural development and $18 billion to agriculture and related sectors. To partially fund these initiatives, the government plans to implement higher capital-gains taxes.
