Bank of England Holds Interest Rate at 5.25%

The Bank of England has maintained its main interest rate at 5.25%. This decision follows the release of new data revealing that Britain’s headline annual inflation rate dropped to 2% in May, aligning with the bank’s target. But the core inflation rate, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, stood at 3.5%. Inflation in the services sector also did not decrease as expected.
